Train & Skyrail Canopy Glider

Take in this spectacular tropical rainforest adventure from the unique viewing perspective of Skyrail’s Canopy Glider.

Accompanied by a Skyrail Ranger and with a maximum of 4 guests, the Canopy Glider combines a thrilling rainforest adventure with personalised interpretation of the plants, animals and history which surround you.   Glide above the rainforest in the open-air gondola and enjoy breathtaking, uninterrupted 360 degree panoramic views of the Tropical North Queensland region.


  • This premium rainforest adventure is available to only a select number of guests per day, so please book well in advance. 
  • The Canopy Glider operates with 2 departures daily
  • Check in times are: 9:15am from Smithfield Terminal
  • 1:45pm from Kuranda Terminal
  • The tour will take between one and a half and two and a quarter hours

Hotel Transfers: Return Hotel Transfers from Cairns, Northern Beaches (Trinity Beach and Palm Cove), Port Douglas

  • Cairns City pickup - 7:30am, 8:30am
  • Trinity Beach pickup - 7:45am, 9:05am
  • Palm Cove pickup - 7:20am, 8:45am

  • Train ex Freshwater Station 8.45am OR 9.45am
  • Free time in Kuranda
  • Return by Canopy Glider - 1.40pm
  • Barron Falls & Red Peak Boardwalks
  • Cairns City drop off - 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5:20pm
  • Trinity Beach, Palm Cove, Port Douglas drop off - 3:40pm, 5:20pm

Skyrail Canopy Glider up & Train down:

  • Cairns City pickup - 8:30am
  • Trinity Beach pickup - 9:05am

  • Skyrail to Kuranda 9:15am
  • Red Peak & Barron Falls Boardwalks
  • Free time in Kuranda
  • Train departs Kuranda at 2pm or 3.30pm
  • Transfer to hotel 3.30pm, 5pm

  • Up to 4 passengers may be booked for each Canopy Glider tour
  • Minimum age is 10 years and children 10 to 14 years inclusive must be accompanied by an adult
  • Minimum height is 140 centimetres
  • Waist measurement must be between 65 and 130 centimetres
  • There are weight restrictions to the glider and weight must be provided at time of booking
  • Customers must be agile and able to step up 50cm into a moving gondola
  • Luggage is limited to one small item and camera and limited to a total of 5kg
  • All items such as hat, phone, camera must be secured to clothing or body
  • Passengers will be required to sign an acknowledgement of risk and liability form
  • Travel will be in a platform that is fully open to inclement weather conditions
  • Passengers must be in good health and not suffer from vertigo
  • Reservations cancelled within 24 hours of travel will be subject to a cancellation fee of 100%
  • The tour may be cancelled without notice due to mechanical or weather considerations that impact on the safe operation at no liability to Skyrail. A full refund will be provided in these cases.

Language Options:
Queensland Rail have developed a unique and interactive app to give customers the opportunity to listen to commentary while they sit back, relax and take in the many historical sites on-board the Kuranda Scenic Railway.  The apps are available in English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese/Mandarin & German for Apple from the iTunes app store and from Google Plus for Android users.  Please ensure you download the app prior to visiting Kuranda Scenic Railway's Stations.  If you don't have a headset they are available for purchase at the gift shops in Freshwater or Kuranda for $1.
